Children who were not baptized as
infants enter the Catechumenate, a process that prepares children over
the age of seven to become members of the Catholic Church. When a child
is ready to be baptized, the parish deacon, who coordinates the
Baptismal Program, is contacted and a date for the child’s baptism is
For infants and small children, participation in one Baptism preparation class is required for parents. This class will clarify the roles of Parents, Godparents, and the meaning of the various signs and symbols used within the baptismal rite.
