The Lord has blessed the parish of Saint Peter in many ways over the ninety-plus years of our existence. Throughout those years, the parish has depended on the generosity of its members in dedicating their time and talent to the activities and ministries in which the parish is involved. The parish community is grateful for the witness of service given by so many people over so many years.
The Parish Council of Saint Peter has recognized the importance of the spirit of generous service to the life of the parish. Last year, in the goal-setting process known as "Dare to Dream," hundreds of parishioners shared their ideas, hopes, and dreams for the future of our parish family. The idea of finding a way for more people to volunteer their time and talent for parish activities was one of the "dreams" most often mentioned by those who participated. Encouraged by the widespread support for the idea, the Parish Council established a Committee on Stewardship to create and carry out a process by which parishioners could volunteer their time and talent for the ministries and activities of the parish. The committee chose as a theme for the campaign of Stewardship the words of a reflection by Saint Theresa of Avila: "Christ has no hands but yours."
A booklet has been created which contains a listing of all of the groups, activities, and ministries offered at our parish. We ask that each member of the parish read through this booklet. Every group mentioned welcomes new members, and every ministry welcomes new ministers. Please take time to read, reflect, and pray about how you can offer your time and talent to the parish. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the parish office to speak with a member of the pastoral staff.
Thank you for your cooperation and generosity. We must work together to build up our parish family, and to keep our parish strong. Remember, it is your responsibility! Christ has "no hands but yours."
